Short Film of the Week: The Flying Man
A short film has been receiving attention over the last two years for its sharp visual effects and interesting take on the superhero genre.
The Flying Man, co-written, directed and financed by Marcus Alqueres, tells the story of a mysterious flying man/being who is taking out unsuspecting citizens. Is he a hero? Is he a vigilante? It's up to us to decide. Interestingly, viewers are given no background about The Flying Man, and unlike most superhero stories, this tale is told from the scared citizens' points of view.
Alqueres is a talented visual effects artist who has worked on 300, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Source Code and other big-budget movies.
The Flying Man has been praised by several sites and notable folks, including Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada. Alqueres has said he has considered continuing the story.
The short is safe for work and lasts about nine minutes.
